You don’t know? You’re in charge.

Hey, he could’ve switched out with someone. I don’t micromanage you fuckers.

That was true. That was one good thing about Crew on a very short list.

Another text popped up on his screen. But I can start, if you’d like. And I’ll make sure everyone knows it’s because of you.

Aren’t you hilarious, asshole, Rez responded. He frowned at his phone, then asked, What took you so long to reply at first? What’re you doing?

Your momma.

Damn. I thought she had better taste. Guess not. Make sure to try her black beans while you’re over there giving her “the business.”

Just call me Daddy.

You’re old enough to be my daddy, Rez replied.

Yeah, if I knocked your mommy up when I was ten.

You’re twelve years older than me.

Asshole, you think the sperm goes in and the kid pops out like a vending machine? It took time for you to incubate.

Okay, go watch porn or something and stop fantasizing about my mother. You’ll give me nightmares.

The woman can cook. Even better, she can take you out with a single flip-flop. She’s my hero.

Rez snorted and shook his head, then texted Reynolds next. You sitting on the cameras?

Unlike Crew, Reynolds answered within seconds. Yeah. I see your ass at The Peach Pit.

Good. T-Bone’s working.

See that fucker, too, the state police corporal texted back.

Keep an eye on him for me. My guess is he’ll disappear and reappear when he goes out back to make a sale. Rez was proud he only had to correct three typos in that long text.

Got it, popped up in the text string.

If he leaves, let me know ASAP so I can try to follow him. Also, see if you can figure out what he’s driving.

Will do.

You’re the best, Reynolds. Rez added three kiss emojis on the end of that.

You can kiss my ass with those lips.

Rez chuckled and placed his phone on the vinyl booth bench next to him where he could see it in case another text came in. After another quick visual sweep of the club’s interior, his eyes landed on T-Bone and stayed there for the next hour.

At least until the woman of his dreams made her appearance wearing a blood red sequined dress that showed more cleavage than he’d like and hugged her hips and tits perfectly.

No surprise that he wasn’t the only person in that club with a dick who noticed.

“You coming over after work?”

Rez looked like eye candy sitting alone in the booth. She now knew that sexy, muscular body almost as well as her own since she’d explored practically every inch of it.

She sighed at his question. “I told you I work until closing. Twice.”

“Fuck.” With a frown, he dragged fingers through his hair. “My brain is stuck on the need to fuck you and I can’t do that when you’re here at work.”

She raised one eyebrow at him. But if she was being honest, those five words, the need to fuck you, sent a ribbon of warmth swirling through her until it landed in her pussy, making it clench with the need to fuck him, too. “Well, you could, but I prefer to do it somewhere other than this pit.”

“You’re not the only one.” He slid over to the end of the curved booth, dragged his hand across her ass and settled it on her hip before pulling her into his lap.

Once she settled there, she leaned in close and put her mouth to his ear. “Trying to get Taint riled up?”

“He’s still here?”

“He was the last time I checked.”

“Will you take a baggie full of meth as payment for a private dance? It’s a form of currency now, if you didn’t know.”

“I think I’ll pass since it’s difficult to pay my light bill with that. The power company might frown upon it. Is that how they’re paying you for work?”

“Pretty much. The only good part about it is, it gets it off the street.”

Paying for construction or handyman work with drugs just proved what a lowlife Saint the Taint was.

The difference between Rez and Taint was night and day.

She leaned back so she could meet his deep brown eyes. “Taking payment in drugs doesn’t make them suspicious? I’ve seen plenty of drug addicts and you don’t look like one.” He looked as healthy as could be.

Rez shrugged. “You’re assuming they’re smart.”

She tipped her head. “Silly me.”

“So, I guess they abandoned the policy about cell phones on the club floor?”

Unfortunately. Against the dancers’ wishes. It wasn’t like Taint listened to their ideas or complaints. “To a point. You can keep it on you as long as you’re not taking photos or videos. At least that’s what Taint told us when some of us complained.”

“You mean if they’re obvious about it. It’s easy enough to sneak in shots.” He blew out a breath. “I don’t like it. Will they go so far as kicking someone out if they’re caught doing that?”
