He’d have Nova do it, but she’d “accidentally” slip with the clippers and leave a bald spot on purpose.

The only good part about letting it grow was not having to shave every damn morning. Luckily, Nova didn’t mind the roughness between her thighs. Thank fuck she didn’t because he had his face buried there a lot.

“Whoever it is probably left a voicemail. I’ll grab it on my way back from the bathroom. My bladder is telling me not to do business before I do my business.”

“Well, hurry the fuck up, because I also have important business to attend to.”

She glanced over her shoulder at him as she headed toward the open bedroom door. Most of the time she was too grumpy to have early morning sex so they usually made up for it at night.

Actually, they more than made up for it. He was surprised his balls hadn’t shriveled up into BBs.

“Do you have to drop the kids off at the pool?”

“No,” he called out after she disappeared down the hallway. “Ghost wants to make Kitten purr.”

“Kitten might need to find a warm, sunny spot to curl up and go back to sleep.” He heard right before the bathroom door shut.

She was back in less than three minutes. Skirting the bed, she went directly to the closet to dig around in her bag stored at the bottom.

Of course, she was bending over in all of her fucking glory, making sure to point that juicy temptation in his direction.

Jesus. The woman didn’t have a shy bone in her body.

He grabbed his own rock hard bone and shook it. Then, neither did he.

“Nova,” he growled, anxious to pet and stroke that kitty.

“What?”

“Hurry up, grab your fucking phone and get back in bed. We have important business to take care of that has nothing to do with your damn phone.”

She straightened with her cell phone in her hand and faced him. “Is that an order or a suggestion?”

“Didn’t it sound like a strongly-worded suggestion?”

“Sounded like an order to me. But you’re welcome to reword it and tweak the attitude a bit.”

“Are you trying to kill me by causing a lack of blood to my brain?” he asked.

“If I wanted to kill you, you’d already be dead.”

No fucking doubt.

She approached the bed. “But if you were dead, I would lose access to that dick you’re holding.”

No doubt about that, either. “Well, there you go. One good reason to keep me breathing and my heart pumping.”

“You were doing a lot of heavy breathing and pumping,” she hit the power button on her cell phone to check the time, “only about three hours ago. Damn. I knew I needed more sleep.”

“What time are you supposed to be downstairs?”

“Ten.”

“Then you can take a cat nap after I fuck you again. Or a Kitten nap.” He huffed out a laugh.

“Was that supposed to be funny? Because if so, it missed the mark by a mile.” With a loud sigh, she climbed back on the bed and settled next to him by sitting cross-legged against the headboard.

He rolled into her, trailing his fingers up her bare thigh as she tapped on the phone’s screen. After putting it to her ear and listening for a few seconds to the voicemail, her brow furrowed.

With a look of confusion, she lowered her phone and stared at it.

He didn’t like the expression she wore. “What’s going on?”

A crease marred her forehead as her gaze landed on his face pressed against her hip. He was tempted to put his mark there.

“That was the office at my condo complex,” she answered, sounding distracted.

“Did you forget to pay your HOA?”

“No, my condo fees automatically get withdrawn from my account every month.”

He sat up. “Okay then… What’s the problem?”

“The message said there was a bad leak in the condo above mine yesterday and the maintenance men, along with the insurance adjuster, need access to my place to assess the damage. Fuck. I wonder how much of my shit was destroyed. What a fucking pain in the ass.”

“At least you weren’t home and have a place to stay if any major repairs are needed. Your upstairs neighbor’s insurance should cover any damage. Are you going to call them back and see how soon you need to be there? Did they say how bad the leak was?”

“No. Only that there was a leak and they indicated there could be damage.” She drug her hands down her face and sighed. “They want me to let them in before noon and gave me the direct number to the maintenance guy. I’m supposed to text him as soon as I arrive on scene.”

Arrive on scene. Such a typical badge’s response, even to a personal issue. Cop speak was hard to break, even when it was a necessity to avoid it while undercover.

“The office doesn’t have a key?”
