But maybe she was giving him too much credit.

He might think differently if they were in a real relationship. Because besides the awesome sex, the rest of it was supposed to be fake.

His heavy arm lay across her body under her breasts, his muscular, lightly-furred thigh pinned her legs to the mattress. His breathing was soft and steady where it was tucked into her neck, his thumb gliding lightly back and forth over the fading bruises.

They both had slipped into lazy mode.

The last couple of men she’d been with, she had felt restless after hooking up with them. She couldn’t wait for them to leave, or she made excuses for her to escape their place.

With Finn, she was content and comfortable and had no urge to put space between them. She assumed since he was in no rush to leave her or her warm bed, he felt the same.

She brushed her fingers mindlessly through his thick shock of red hair, studying his very relaxed expression. She liked his weight on her. It wasn’t smothering at all but more like a weighted blanket that bathed her in calmness.

She would enjoy every second with him for as long as it lasted. Like her, none of his past relationships had been long or serious. It wasn’t like she had been avoiding them, she just never met anyone she wanted to spend more time with, instead of less.

Funny how this fake relationship turned out to be more fulfilling than any of her previous real ones.

It could be that he was only staying over since he insisted on taking her to work every morning and picking her up in the evening, despite the fact that Taint had banned him from inside The Peach Pit.

She thought it was no longer necessary, but when she mentioned it, he insisted on continuing to play the part of her controlling, possessive boyfriend. Even though he might not be allowed inside the club, by him taking her to and from work, Saint would be reminded that Finn was still in the picture.

“What are you doing tomorrow afternoon?” rumbled from him and vibrated through her chest.

“Like every other Sunday, I’m working.” Normally she didn’t mind working on the weekends. It wasn’t like she had other plans. But she had a feeling wherever he was going with this was going to make her regret having to work this Sunday.

“Bang off.”

She frowned. “Do what?”

He pressed a quick kiss to her nipple. “Call in sick.”

Oh sure. “I need the money, Finn. Otherwise, I’m never going to escape that place. Can whatever you have planned happen on Monday, instead?”

He pursed his lips. “That won’t be possible, but… Maybe you can get Sapphire to cover for you for a couple of hours? You can just go in late.”

If Laura was still the owner, sure. She could’ve taken the whole day off, but things had changed.

Before she could dig deeper into whatever idea he had, he rolled off her and snagged his phone from the nightstand nearest him. He tapped on the screen before putting the phone to his ear, then rolled onto his back, tucking one arm under his head. “Yo, prez, got a favor… Yeah… Well, fuck you, too… I’m moving the run to an earlier time… I don’t give a shit. Nobody’s going to bitch. Just two hours earlier. Eleven instead of one.” His gaze lifted to the ceiling. “Yeah, whatever. Do me a favor and let everyone know. Blame me. Also, no cuts. I’ll explain later.” Without a goodbye, he pulled the phone from his ear and stabbed at the screen before tossing it onto the bed next to him.

Mel waited for him to explain all of that since she still had no idea what was happening on Sunday. Besides him mentioning it was some kind of run. “By the way, I hate running. I’d rather stare directly into a solar eclipse.”

His rich chuckle washed over her. “It’s not that type of run.”

“What type is it?”

“A type that involves straddling, not strides.” He rolled into her and brushed a strand of her loose, messy hair out of her face. “It’s when my MC gets together and rides in formation.”

She blinked and stared at him. “And you want me to go along?”

“I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t. The only thing is, we’ll both have to disguise ourselves on the slim chance a Demon would spot us. That would bring up questions we don’t want to answer. I’ll borrow a full-faced helmet for you and I’ll be wearing one, too. Dress as plainly, and warmly, as possible. You’ll need boots if you have them. If not, closed-toe shoes. Have you ever rode on the back of a bike?”

“No. But maybe you should have first asked me if I would like to before assuming.” She raised her eyebrows in emphasis.
