He certainly did.

“What the girls charge depends on what the customer wants and for how long they want it.”

“Like touching?”

“Touching. Grinding. Even cleanup.”

“Cleanup?”

“Do I need to explain why they’d need cleaned up?”

“No. I’ve had a private dance before, but I don’t remember it going that far.”

“Did you ask?”

“It was my twenty-first birthday, I didn’t know to ask. I probably couldn’t afford it, anyway. Not when my fist is free.”

She shook against him when she laughed.

“Would I get a discount? Being you know… your boyfriend and all?”

“If you’re my boyfriend, wouldn’t you see me naked for free?”

“Would I?” She was sitting on his lap and if they continued to talk about her giving him a lap dance, she might get an unexpected surprise.

And maybe have to do a little cleanup afterward.

“Well, if you want to practice, I’ll be glad to give you my best critique. Especially after you’ve seen me bumping and grinding in only my skivvies. It’s only fair.”

She combed her fingers through his hair, and leaned in until her warm breath swept over his cheek. “I’ll keep that in mind.”

“I don’t like that you’re being forced to do something you don’t want to do.”

“Did you really want to strip on stage for your job?”

Good point.

“And if I don’t, I have a feeling if he doesn’t fire me, he’ll force me to go back to dancing full time. Right now, I don’t have any other options. I wish I did and I’ll keep looking, but…” She sighed. “Enough about that. Have you seen anything worth taking note about?”

“No. I sat here on purpose so I can keep an eye on Popeye and also on Mutt behind the bar.” He pointed to his barely-touched drink. “His bartending skills suck, by the way. How hard is it to make a Jack and Coke? A toddler could make a better one.”

She sighed again. “I know. Taint acts like he’s so damn worried about making money. The bar brings in a ton with the right bartender, but the idiot fired them all.”

Of course he did. He didn’t have to pay the prospects much, if anything, and they were most likely involved in the meth dealing. The less outsiders working in the club, the better. “How about you? Have you seen anything?”

“I’m definitely keeping my eyes peeled now. The only thing to report is Sapphire’s training a new prospect named Chubs and she complained that he keeps going out front to smoke.”

“He probably is.”

“But is that all he’s doing?”

“There are cameras pointed on the front lot, right?”

“Yes, three. Two cover the lot itself and one the front door. There’s also one in the lobby pointed at the entrance, too. All of those were working when I checked them this morning.”

“Then I need to come in here when the club’s closed so I can go through some of the footage.”

“When do you want to do that?” she asked.

“Tomorrow morning before any Demons get here.”

“Okay. I’m usually here a couple of hours before opening. And now that you have the code, you can just let yourself in the back door.”

“That should give me plenty of time to skim through some of the footage you have from the last thirty days. I might even bring a flash drive along to download the files so someone else on the task force can go through them carefully.”

“I could probably just give you the direct link and password to the cloud storage.”

“The only problem with that is it might record the IP address we’d access them from. I’d prefer we don’t tip them off.”

“Do you think Taint would know anything about IP addresses?”

Saint was probably a complete dumbass, but… “Not going to risk it. I’ll grab what I can get tomorrow and then run it past the task force leader. I’m sure the feds have experts with a way of getting around that problem.”

Movement caught Finn’s eye. Saint was working his way over in their direction with his eyes glued on them. Goddamn it. “You should get back to work. Let me know if Cookie shows up.”

“Oh shit,” slipped from Mel when she spotted Saint.

Finn helped her to stand before he stood, too. He didn’t want to remain seated and give Saint the upper-hand.

“You’ll know when Cookie shows up. With the way she looks and acts, you won’t be able to miss her,” she whispered, then gave him a quick parting kiss. “I’ll check back with you when I can.”

“He buyin’ a lap dance?” Saint growled, stopping in front of them both.

Finn squared off with him. “Why the fuck would I pay for something I get for free?”

Saint jabbed a finger toward the floor. “You’re standin’ in my house right now and you wanna be touchin’ my girl and have her sittin’ in your lap, then you pay.” He turned to Mel. “What’d I tell you about earnin’ your keep?”
