Because she was not the type of woman to back down. Though, the woman needed to learn how to pick her battles. And right now, Mel was going toe to toe with Saint, pointing at the downed prospect and yelling in the head Demon’s face.

“I wish we could hear what the fuck was going on.” While Finn appreciated her bravery, he wished she wasn’t taking Saint head-on. Not alone like that. Or at all.

Saint stood there with a hard look on his face, but wasn’t saying shit. And because he wasn’t responding to whatever Mel was saying, it was only winding her up even more. Clearly apparent by the way her head was jerking and her arms were being flung around.

“She needs to get the fuck out of there,” murmured Nox right behind him.

No shit.

“If you call or text her, will she answer?” Crew asked.

“Probably not. She doesn’t want him to know she has a phone on her.” Finn sucked on his teeth out of frustration.

“At this point, who fucking cares if he finds out? Right now she’s like a dog with a bone. Someone needs to toss that fucking bone to distract her and get her away from Saint. Try calling her,” Crew ordered. “If she answers, tell her to get the fuck out of there.”

“I’m her ride, remember?”

“For fuck’s sake. Call her anyway and tell her to back off before she gets seriously hurt.”

Finn reached past Crew to grab his phone off the desk, but before he could call Mel, his whole body turned to concrete. His heart seized, his lungs emptied, and his blood froze in his veins as he watched Saint reach for Mel.

With two hands he shoved her so hard, she slammed into the wall. When he went after her again, Mel somehow managed to lift her leg high enough in her skin-tight dress to kick at him. But instead of making contact, he caught her ankle, throwing her off balance enough for her to fall backwards and land hard on the floor.

“Oh fuck no he didn’t,” Decker growled.

“Oh fuck yes he did!” Nox yelled.

“That motherfucker!” Finn shouted.

As she scrambled to get up, he grabbed her hair and used it to start dragging her down the hallway.

“Jesus fucking Christ!” Finn screamed at the monitor. Where the fuck was he taking her?

Mel was clawing at his arm, trying to free herself, but Saint never even paused, ignoring his arms being shredded by her nails. He continued down the hallway to the rear door and slammed the push bar with his boot. The door flew open and he continued yanking Mel outside.

“Switch the camera feed!” someone yelled behind him.

Fuck that. He’d seen more than enough. Watching wasn’t going to end this. Only action would.

“I’m going!” Finn yelled.

Nox immediately blocked his way and so did Crew, getting right in his face. “You aren’t. Not yet. That’ll blow your cover. You’re supposed to be her damn boyfriend, remember? You’re not a cop. You’re definitely not a fucking federal task force officer watching a secret camera feed. You’re Danny the Dancer. Remember that, brother. Don’t worry, karma’s a cunt and Saint will get his.”

“I’m on the phone with my sergeant right now. He’s sending multiple units that way code three,” Proctor announced with his phone still to his ear.

Code three meant a priority response. But that still didn’t mean they’d get there in time to prevent her getting hurt worse.

Even so, thank fuck Proctor was an officer with the Uniontown PD and could go directly to the source instead of dialing county dispatch and wasting time. Even better, since his sergeant knew the basic details behind Proctor’s special assignment, Finn’s fellow task force officer wouldn’t need to explain how they knew about The Peach Pit incident when they weren’t even there.

Proctor came over and placed a hand on Finn’s shoulder. “My PD will get her out of there. Since I told them the victim is the girlfriend of another officer, they’ll break the speed barrier. Once they do and arrest Saint, you can either pick her up at the club or they’ll have someone transport her to the station.”

“As long as she doesn’t need medical,” Crew added, peering at the monitor. When Finn practically shoved him out of the way to see what was happening, the DEA agent warned him, “Keep your shit together. You going off the rails isn’t going to help anyone.”

“Jesus fuck,” he breathed at what he saw.

The four other men closed in behind him, forming a human cage around him, in an attempt to contain him.

Watching the monitor, Finn bared his teeth, ready to snap at anyone who tried to stop him. He struggled not to start shoving and hitting, so he could rush over to the club and check on Mel. Despite everything Crew said.

His brain was only focused on one thing. Making sure Mel was safe.
