Luckily, the agency frowned on that type of activity. As they should.

“Can you take it out of tonight’s pay?”

“You’re workin’ for tips,” he reminded her.

Damn. She was hoping he wouldn’t remember that fact.

“You’ve been fuckin’ hustlin’ all night, makin’ the bar more scratch than normal. Tell you what…”

Interesting. He’d been paying attention. That was news to her and she needed to keep that in mind for the future, especially if she started hunting around for their stash spot.

So far, she hadn’t seen any cameras set up around the bar, but that didn’t mean they weren’t there. Or it could be that the man was simply observant.

She had no doubt his ass would be hung out to dry by Viper, the club’s president, if something happened to thousands of dollars’ worth of methamphetamine.

Bulldog continued, “You keep hustlin’ like that, not annoyin’ our customers and makin’ ‘em happy, gonna give you a little bonus every night once you’re done workin’.”

Cami waited to hear the rest of this small windfall. Any amount of meth they could get off the street was better than nothing.

After a few moments and when he didn’t continue, she asked, “What’s the bonus?”

“Gonna give you a small special.”

A small was a gram. They charged her eighty bucks last night for that amount.

“Well, damn, Bulldog, that’s generous. But are you also saying I can work as many nights as I want? No limit? No forced nights off?”

“You work when you fuckin’ want, but you gotta work a whole shift to get that bonus.”

“That sounds like a great deal. And it’s going to make my ol’ man very happy. Better yet, when he’s happy, he makes me happy.” Bulldog showed zero reaction when she added a wink.

The bar manager leaned in closer and jabbed a finger at her chest. “But you make problems in this bar, the deal’s off. No fuckin’ bonus, not even any damn tips. You’ll be done here. Don’t need no bitch causin’ problems in here. You got that?”

Oh yeah, she would not want to have to take down and cuff Bulldog. She would lose that battle. Most of her male counterparts would, too. “I do.”

“Gonna go let Hook know you’ll be seein’ him at the end of the night.”

She did a little bounce on her toes to appear excited by the news. “You’re the best, Bulldog!” she practically squealed.

With a grunt, he turned and lumbered away.

Crew was going to be ecstatic.

Maybe.

She’d let him know about this news the next opportunity she had to check in with him. Just like he insisted.

Chapter Eighteen

She’d checked in every couple hours throughout the night like he insisted.

Cabrera’s last text said she was fine and would soon be on her way back to The Plant to drop off the pool car. Seeing her Audi still parked in the lot meant he managed to beat her there.

It was much earlier than he’d normally arrive at work, but he wanted to see her with his own two eyes.

Two bloodshot eyes because, between reading her texts and worrying about her, he hardly got any sleep. Since his ass was already dragging, what did it matter if he was out the door before four in the morning?

When he arrived, he left the back gate open, so he heard the sedan coming up the alley before he saw it turn in.

He fought the urge to rush over to the car before she even got out. Instead, he made sure to appear bored and unconcerned. Even though that was farthest from reality.

What the fuck was wrong with him?

Was he this worried when Decker went undercover as a prospect with the Demons? No.

Cabrera could take care of herself. He was acting like a fucking idiot.

After climbing out of the car, she turned toward him and, even in the limited light, her eyes looked more shadowed than they should be.

Like him, she was probably running on exhaust fumes. Only she’d been on her feet all night, while he’d been on his back in his comfortable bed, waiting for his phone to light up with each text.

She approached him where he leaned against her Audi. “What are you doing here?”

“Making sure you return the pool car. Someone might need to use it today.”

Her expression immediately told him she knew that was bullshit. Her words confirmed it. “You’re a bad liar, you know that?”

“Why do you think I’m lying?”

“Because I told you I’d drop it off this morning before heading home.” Her head tilted. “Unless you don’t trust me?”

“I trust you until you give me a reason not to.”

“Damn,” she whispered. “You have issues.”

He agreed, he did. His main issue right now was the woman standing before him. He shouldn’t be more worried about her than any of his other team members.

But, fuck him, he was.

He pushed off her car and stepped directly in front of her with her eyes following his every move.
