“I claim this body,” I whisper, my entire body straining as I mate her slowly, intentionally. A torturous thrusting in and out so that both of us can feel the entire path of my cock as I drag in and out against her plump, swollen flesh.

She spasms around me, the highest-pitched squeal coming out of her throat as she reaches her climax, her hips thrusting up and down against me spasmodically.

I continue to hold her face in my hands, clenching more than ever. “You and I will be one forever.”

She nods, tears of pleasure flooding her eyes as she arches into me, fingernails digging into my waist and tail. “Forever,” she squeals before her eyes close, and she begins to shake uncontrollably with her climax.

I can no longer keep my control. I’ll be able to stay with her, I tell myself as I lose the last shred of my grip. The pull between us is strong enough. For once, I’ll be able to stay.

In a flood, I hold tight to her, memorizing her face as the force of my own peak slams through my body.

I feel it. For an instant, I feel every inch of the pleasure and connection. I see her pleasure-flooded eyes as she opens them, and we share it. We are together in the most intense moment two beings can share, like an eclipsing sun.

I feel the light of heaven, of wholeness, and for the first time in my life, I know true peace.

And in the very next moment, it’s all yanked away as darkness falls, the heavy shade of sleep taking me as my brother swings in to replace me.

I only have the briefest fraction of a second to feel the horror of all I haven’t said to my beloved before there’s only darkness, and I feel nothing at all.

Chapter Eleven

ROMULUS

Twisting back into consciousness is always a little disconcerting, but no transition has ever been as shocking as this one. I mean, I’m used to picking up after my brother’s messes, but—

I’m on top of a beautiful woman, and we’re—

I pull out of her tight cunny and shudder with another hit of my body’s release, even as I know how wrong it is.

The woman scrambles back and yanks her covers up over herself.

“Holy shit, who are you?” I ask, leaping off the bed. And wondering exactly what the hell my brother has gotten me into now.

“He said you’d never wake up!” she cries.

He said what? I snatch my pants from the floor and yank them on.

I briefly close my eyes and search our shared memory to find out what the hell my brother’s been up to, but it’s. . . blank. Wait. That’s not possible. It shouldn’t be possible.

“Bring him back!” she shrieks.

My eyes pop back open. “It doesn’t work like that. What did he tell you? I’m Romulus. Did he tell you about me? Who even are you? How did you get here?”

The sheet of the bed tightly wrapped underneath her arms, she breathes out hard, fluffing some of the dark chestnut hair out of her face. She scoots up until her back is against the headboard and takes a moment to rearrange a pillow.

“How could you— How could he— How could he just leave like that?” she says, obviously very upset. “When we were in the middle of—”

She tugs the sheet tighter around herself.

I sigh, dragging a hand down my face and shuddering. Because fuck, I can still feel the aftereffects of what my brother’s just been up to with this body. It’s a line we’ve never, ever crossed before. For good reason.

I thought he and I had an unspoken agreement. Obviously, worst case scenario, swapping midway would be upsetting to whatever partner we might have. But apparently, after being locked up for two hundred years, Remus decided it was time to get his jollies off.

“Where did he even find you?” I ask. I glance around. “Look, I’m sorry if he didn’t fully explain all this.” I gesture to the dual faces of our head. “If you just tell me how much he owes you, I’ll take you back to wherever you’re from—”

Her mouth drops open. “How much he owes me? You think I’m a—” She hisses out, and she might as well be breathing fire. I can only look at her in confusion. Wait, is she not a prostitute?

I hold up a hand. “Just wait a moment.”

I try harder to seek the memories of what has happened during my sleep. I frown, eyes closed, really trying. But again, there is nothing. My eyes pop back open to see the woman furiously pulling a nightgown over her head.

“Maybe he wouldn’t talk about you because you’re such an asshole,” she mutters under her breath.

My mouth drops open. Is she kidding? Everyone knows I’m the good one. “What lies has he told you?” I demand.
