Aimie comes back with two high heels. One black, and one a blush color. Luna points to the black shoe, so the saleslady sets the blush looking one aside.

“This Bow Tie cutout Lace pump is from Aquazzura and I think it’d look beautifully on your ankle!” she says, holding the shoe in one hand and sliding her other hand across the shoe as if she’s showcasing it.

“Oh my, that is so beautiful,” Luna says, her eyes wide with awe. Aimie hands it to her, helping her try it on and my cock pulses seeing it on Luna. Jesus Christ, it’s amazing what a good pair of heels does to a woman.

Luna looks at me.

“I love it, what do you think.”

I twirl my finger. “We’ll take it.”

“Very nice. Is there anything else I can get you?” she asks, taking the shoe off Luna’s foot.

“You need some shoes,” I tell Luna, and she looks up at Aimie.

“Oh, let me see what we have.” She holds a finger up and disappears.

“Thank you. For everything, Romeo,” Luna whispers, the sound of her voice making my head snap in her direction.

“Of course,” I tell her, but to be honest I don’t think I would do this for anyone else. There’s just something about Luna. I want to protect her, take care of her. I have since the day I met her in the state hospital.

Aimie returns holding a white and gold shoe. It’s flashy for sure.

“This is from Dolce & Gabbana, a chunky metallic leather sneaker.” She helps Luna try it on, a smile on her face. “It’s a favorite for sure,” Aimie continues.

“Oh wow, that is so comfortable,” Luna says, her hand caressing the leather. I grimace, thinking this might be her first pair of new shoes in who knows how long. I guess I never thought about people who went without while I sat up in my apartment looking down, crying over my own issues that look smaller in comparison now.

Sitting up, I tell Aimie, “We will take two pairs in the same size.”

“Two?” Luna looks at me with confusion, I ignore it for now.

“Alright, I’ll have these right up front when you’re ready,” Aimie says, taking back the shoe. She goes to the front to box up our purchases, and Luna puts on Jannet’s sneaker.

“I got a pair for Jannet, for letting you use hers today,” I explain to Luna and her mouth parts, her eyes looking at me as if I’m some romantic. I’m not, It’s just the right thing to do. Right?

We both stand and head to check out. I hand the lady my card and my phone rings. I wonder if it’s Gideon with the info I asked him to find already. Sliding it out of my slacks to find it’s my mom calling. I answer it.

“Hey.”

“Hey honey. I was thinking about having a family dinner? Do you think Kieran will bring Leona?” she asks, she seems to be sober.

“Uh, I don’t know, Mom. You’ll have to ask him.” I can tell you if Dad is coming, he won’t be. I look to Luna, curious if I should bring her to the dinner, but there’s a lot of things happening in the next few days.

“Alright. I’ll give him a call. I’m just nervous, I guess,” she huffs into the phone.

“Call him. He won’t bite, not you anyway.” I smile, hanging up the phone.

The lady tries to hand me the bag of shoes, and I step out of the way so Luna can take them. They’re hers.

We go down the escalators and back to the car. She slips off her sneakers and puts on the heels before I even get the engine started.

“Jesus Christ,” I mutter, wanting to take her in the back seat right now.

“What?” she prods.

“Tonight, you are wearing just those in my bed,” I tell her, and her cheeks turn red.

A shy smile on her face. I might have been a little forward but fuck me, what’s a man to do when a girl he’s crushing after wears something like that? A beautiful woman like Luna dressed in a black dress, sneakers and holding a gun tests a man’s restraint, put her in heels and he’s done for. She’s a wet fucking dream.

Back at the apartment, we park and head inside. Jannet is behind her desk, reading. Taking the bag from Luna, I grab Jannet’s old shoes and the new ones I just bought. I set them on the counter and her eyes slowly slide upward.

“What’s that?” she questions, dropping her book.

“For you, as a thank you for letting her wear your shoes,” I inform and become anxious for some reason. What if she doesn’t like them? What if she takes me buying her shoes wrong? I didn’t think about that. Maybe I shouldn’t have gotten them.

She opens the box and her mouth pop open.
