“Thank you for taking one for the team.” If my voice were any drier, sand would drip from it.

“Any time.” Thorne laughs. “When are you coming by to tell Angel Baby you’ll be gone for a while?” Shoot. I forgot all about my little canine nephew.

“After I finalize my plans, I’ll let you know.” I hang up on Thorne and dial Wilder’s number. Since his mate is already pregnant, I need to make sure he’s not going to throw a fit over my plans.

When he doesn’t answer, I leave a message and get back to work. It takes me most of the morning, but I manage to plan our getaway and email Dillon our plans.

It’s about time for my mate to come home from work when my phone rings, and I glance down to see Wilder’s picture flash across the screen. “It’s nice of you to finally call me back,” I grumble.

“I don’t have time to fuck around with you. What do you need, asshole?” Impending fatherhood has turned my younger brother into a dickhead.

“I’m taking my mate to Glacier Pass and…” I start to explain, but the asshole interrupts me.

“I know all about your little vacation. Thorne told me about it when we had lunch earlier.” Fucking hell. Those two idiots had lunch without me. That only stings a little bit.

“Thanks so much for inviting me,” I grumble, letting my displeasure color my voice.

“Check your fucking messages, dipshit. I texted you two days ago, and you never responded.” Oh, yeah. I totally forgot about his text.

“Oh.” I rub my hand down my face. “Sorry about that, but I’ve been busier than a one-armed paper hanger trying to fix Dillon’s issues.”

“What’s going on with our pain-in-the-ass cousin?”

“Someone is hacking his computer and giving Helson Snow Removal a leg up on bids. Fucking Harold Helson managed to outbid Dillon’s company three times in the last two weeks.” Our insanely competitive cousin is about to lose his mind over the lost business. Dillon doesn’t need the money, but he can’t stomach coming in second in anything.

“Ouch. I’m betting that got Dildo hot under the collar.” Wilder whistles through his teeth, and I laugh at his funny nickname for our cousin. Both Dillon and Wilder are the youngest siblings and fierce competitors.

“To say the least. I need to figure this shit out before he tears up Glacier Pass trying to find if one of his employees is fucking him over, but my bear won’t let me even consider leaving Honey Pot Hollow without Bethany. In my infinite wisdom, I decided to turn my work trip into a little getaway for us. You know, kill two birds with one stone.”

“Infinite wisdom, my ass,” Wilder grumbles. “I’ll make sure to keep my mate so busy, she doesn’t even notice Bethany is gone. Just make sure to tell Dildo I said hello.”

“Funny. I’ve heard that same plan before.” I shake my head. “I owe you, but I’m not getting my ass kicked for calling Dillon that stupid nickname.”

“And I plan to collect. Big freaking time.” He laughs before hanging up.

I have no doubt he’ll try.

I sit in the first-class plane seat and look around the packed plane. “How long is this flight?” I grasp Clay’s hand, trying to soothe my nervousness. God, I freaking hate flying. I’d rather walk across hot coals than let someone else control my destiny at thirty thousand feet above the ground.

“Just three hours, Spicy Girl.” When Lucky Bear lifts my hand to his lips and places a kiss across my knuckles, all my worries fly right out the window. “The longest three hours of my life.” His deep voice echoes through my mind. I’m still getting used to the feeling of my mate speaking to me nonverbally. The first few times it happened, I almost thought I was losing my mind until Clay explained it to me, but it’s a pretty neat trick when we’re sitting on a plane surrounded by strangers.

“What?” I ask him mentally as I glance up and notice flames dancing in his dark eyes.

Clay runs his nose across my cheek and whispers in my mind. “I can smell your hunger.” Oops. I’m still getting used to my mate’s insane sense of smell.

“Sorry.” I’m not really sorry, but I keep that thought to myself. I love knowing how much my mate desires me.

“Why don’t you put your coat over your lap and I’ll do something to help us both out?" My mind completely shuts down when my mate leans over to kiss the delicate spot under my ear.

“I have an even better idea.” I signal the flight attendant over and smile at her. “Can I please have a blanket?”

“Of course.” She reaches into a compartment and grabs a small plastic-wrapped blanket. After she removes the covering, the flight attendant hands me the blanket and disappears down the aisle.
