Tex

Two years later

I stared at my wife, the mother of my son, the only person in this world who could make my heart beat, hell, stop altogether. From the moment I first saw her all those years ago, I knew she was the one. It took me too damn long to make my move, but she was mine now and nothing and no one would change that. I knew she was it for me. I was for sure a possessive fucker, territorial to the point I no doubt pissed her off, but it was all because of love. I was the way I was, acted the way I did, because I was madly, deeply, and irrevocably in love with her.

I stepped away from my computer, leaving the things that needed wrapped up to my staff. Over the last two years, Brasher Security had grown even more. Now nationwide in surveillance and home security, it kept me busy. I’d always thought my business was the most important thing in my life, the best accomplishment. I’d been so damn wrong.

Calissa and the family we created was the most important thing in my world. Everything revolved around them.

I saw Calissa park in front of my office. I stood there and watched as she got Ryder, our little boy, out of the back. I watched as my wife, the mother of my son, the woman I’d spend the rest of my life with, walk up to the front doors. Even now, all these years later, my heart beat something fierce for this woman. I asked myself daily how I’d become so lucky. I certainly didn’t deserve her.

She stepped inside and I was right there instantly, pulling her into my arms. I kissed Ryder on the top of the head, and moved my hand down to cup her belly, already starting to swell with our second child. I wanted a houseful of kids, little girls who looked like Calissa, and little boys who would grow up to know how to treat a woman and love her unconditionally.

I didn’t think I could be happier than I was now, but every day, just seeing Calissa, showed that my love for her would continue to grow.

Bring it on.
