With one last image of Remy’s beautiful body, I came all over my hand. The feeling of bliss afterward was soon poisoned by the realization of what I’d done. Guilt washed over me and I ran to the bathroom to wash myself clean. I couldn’t believe I’d allowed myself to have such dirty, filthy thoughts about my loyal, kind, and helpful secretary.

You’ve gone too far this time, Griff, I told myself, but I already knew that the damage was done. All that was left now was damage control. I couldn’t stop myself from being attracted to Remy, but I could make sure that nothing like that ever happened again between us. It never would have happened in the first place if I hadn’t been so bold as to kiss her cheek. Now, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to stop at that. I felt like if I was given half the chance, I’d devour her whole and sweep her off her feet with the full force of my desires. I wanted to make love to her more than I’d wanted anything before in my life.

But no, I couldn’t. I had to resist the temptation. I just had to.

When Monday morning arrived, I opted to head into work earlier than usual. I told myself that it was because I wanted to make a good impression on Kelly and that it had nothing at all to do with avoiding Remy. Every morning, I would normally walk past her desk on my way in and she would greet me cheerfully, but that day, I didn’t think I could handle the guilt of my lewd actions over the weekend.

Instead, I made sure to get to the office before most of the other staff members. I prepared myself a big cup of coffee and I kept myself busy by trying to finally sort out all of my unread emails. Things were going pretty well for me. Since I was clearly busy and I kept my door shut, no one disturbed me all morning. It was getting close to lunch time when I realized that Remy would usually stop by and deliver my food.

I swallowed hard. The thought of seeing her again filled me with dread. I wasn’t sure if it was because I was worried about what I had done or what I might still do. With a groan, I slammed my fist down on the desk and let out a frustrated huff of breath.

A knock sounded at the door. For a moment, I didn’t say anything. I hoped and prayed that it wouldn’t be Remy, but I knew I couldn’t avoid her forever even if it was. I took a deep breath. “Come in,” I called.

The door opened and I felt relief wash over me when I saw a flash of bright red hair instead of blonde. It was probably the only time I had ever felt happy to see Kelly. “Good morning, Griff,” she greeted with a smile. “I trust you had a good weekend.”

I nodded. “I did, Kelly, and what about…” I trailed off. I couldn’t finish because when Kelly entered the room, instead of closing the door behind her, someone else followed.

It was Remy.

“I thought I’d bring Remy in the office since I have an announcement that concerns the two of you,” Kelly explained.

My eyebrows rose and I managed to tear my eyes away from Remy to stare at Kelly curiously. “Oh, yeah? And what might that be?” I asked.

“I’ve arranged for you to attend the big materials conference in Chicago this weekend,” she stated with a firm, decisive nod. “I’ve sorted everything out for you already, Griff, including a hotel, transport, etc. etc.”

“This weekend?” I repeated. “Isn’t that a little short notice?”

Kelly pursed her lips. “I suppose it is, but these things happen. I hope I can count on your attendance. I’ll be going too, of course.”

It felt like a trick. So far, Kelly had gone out of her way to put Remy and I in uncomfortable situations where we might slip up. I was getting sick of it, in all honesty. If she had figured out that we were lying, I’d prefer her to come right out and say it instead of playing these games. But my job depended on her not finding out.

I sighed. “Why did you need me to go if you’re attending?”

“Mr. Anderson is already keeping a close eye on you since your office is the most profitable out of all of Enviopak’s branches. This is just his way of helping you keep things that way,” Kelly answered, though I sensed an ulterior motive hidden under the surface.

“Okay, fine, but why did you bring Remy in here?” I questioned, my eyes finally flickering back to the beautiful blonde standing awkwardly behind Kelly.

“Oh! That’s the best part,” Kelly declared. “Remy’s here because you won’t be going to the conference alone. I’ve arranged for your girlfriend to come along. Isn’t that great?”
