Eventually, I pulled out my phone from my pocket and tapped it thoughtfully. I had Remy’s number. It was the easiest way I could get in touch with her and yet, I didn’t want to call her up right away in case she was just getting something from the store or out for a walk. I didn’t want to appear controlling or demanding. She’d probably had enough of me having my own way. No, I wanted her to have her space if she needed it, so instead, I headed back out of the room and toward the elevators again. I figured a quick stroll around the block might help clear my head too and if I just so happened to bump into Remy along the way then it would just be a happy coincidence.
As I walked along the well-decorated corridors However, I didn’t get much further before I spotted her. As I was halfway down the hallway, the elevator doors opened and revealed Remy stepping out with none other than Mr. Anderson. She was smiling happily up at him and I thought to myself that I’d never really appreciated how beautiful her smile was before. It was so contagious that it brought a smile to my own face as I hurried to close the space between us.
“Thank you again for your company, Miss Nelson,” Mr. Anderson was saying as I approached. He looked to his right and noticed me with an excited expression. “Oh, Griffin, how lovely to see you again. I must tell you that you have an excellent employee here.” He winked in Remy’s direction and she laughed.
“I know that, Mr. Anderson,” I agreed with a nod of my head.
“I’m sure you do, but you definitely need to think about her value outside of the office as well as inside it,” he advised before stepping back into the elevator. “We’ll talk soon, my assistant will be in touch about a possible new opportunity for you. I’ll leave you and Remy to it. I’m sure you have a lot to discuss.” He sent a pointed look in Remy’s direction and I grew more and more confused by the situation.
“Thanks for dinner, Mr. Anderson,” Remy said as the doors closed and we were left alone.
Mr. Anderson’s words were reverberating in my head and I knew he was right. If even he could see that I’d neglected my personal relationship with Remy, I was in trouble. I needed to make it up to her and I needed to do it the right way this time. No more just thinking with my dick. Remy deserved better.
“Listen, Griff, I have some big news I need to talk to you about,” Remy said as she turned to face me. Her beautiful blonde hair was a little windswept and it framed her angelic face prettily. Her beautiful blue eyes were gazing up at me with excitement and wonder in them. I began to question how I had ever resisted her before.
“I have some things I need to talk to you about too,” I admitted as I stepped forward and gripped her by her arms. “But this isn’t the place to talk right now. Let’s get out of here and go somewhere just the two of us.”
“Okay,” she agreed, although her expression had changed from excitement to worry.
“Come on,” I encouraged as I took her back to the elevator. She followed alongside me dutifully and I was glad for her accommodating attitude at a time like this. My fingers were wiggling with nervous energy and I wasn’t sure how to cope with what was happening. It was so far out of the realm of my comfort zone that I wanted nothing more than to clam up and hide, but I knew that was no longer an option. I had to confront my feelings once and for all or I’d end up bitter and alone.
I glanced down at Remy as she stood patiently waiting for the elevator doors to open. There was something about her that shook me to my very core. She was so kind, funny, and sexy that I didn’t understand why she had been so forgiving toward me. I was sure she could have absolutely anyone she wanted and yet, here she stood next to me. I was going to make sure that I didn’t let this opportunity slip out of my grasp. I was going to make Remy mine, right here and now.
We emerged into the city once more and I held her close to me straight away. She didn’t question it and the proximity made me feel better, like she was happy to be close to me. I began to lead her through the crowds much like I had done on our very first day here. It felt good to give into my instincts once again and I was happy that Remy was letting me. It meant I still had a chance and I raced toward the destination I had in mind with my heart racing excitedly.
