I skimmed my fingers down Cameron’s arm, and he turned my way.

“I know you like to prove that you can do things yourself.” Cameron started to interrupt me, but I held up my hand to stop him. “Opening a business isn’t something anyone was meant to do alone. You can be in charge and still let people help you.”

“I don’t like relying on other people. It never goes well for me. I’ve learned that life works out better if I’m not in anyone’s debt.”

I narrowed my eyes.

“I believed that before I found out what my father owed you.”

“When your family or friends help you out, it’s not a debt.”

“My family has never been much help, and I’m not very good at making friends.”

I wanted to help him change that. I wanted to see him smile the way he had as we walked around the fort. I wanted him to make a success of the bakery. It shouldn’t matter to me. All that should matter was taking the revenge I’d sought. But as hot as the sex was, I’d learned this week that revenge fucking wasn’t going to amuse me for three months, but Cameron—his stubbornness, his drive, the vulnerability under his hard exterior—just might.

You talked about him all the time. You watched him constantly.

I heard Devil’s words in my head. Goddammit, I had. I’d resented Cameron. I’d wanted to hurt him the way he hurt me, but I’d been so fucking intrigued by him. I’d had to bargain with myself not to follow him around or approach him again. I hated that I felt that way, hated that I couldn’t just ignore him after the way he’d treated me.

But as hot as the revenge sex had been, I needed more. I needed to kiss him. I’d done tons of kinky things with him that week, but I’d never kissed him on the lips.

He looked over at me, and when our eyes met, a jolt of something ran through me. It was unnerving as fuck, and I was afraid to analyze it further.

I meant to push him harder, to make him promise he would accept more help and let me take care of his needs. I could get him contracts with local restaurants. I could help him find the employees he needed, but first, he had to let down his barriers.

Maybe to get him to do that, I was going to have to let down some of mine.

I waited for him to say something. He didn’t, but he didn’t look away either. I leaned closer and kissed him, just a soft brush of my lips over his. He moaned as I pulled back, and something snapped inside me. I crushed my mouth to his and rolled on top of him, taking his wrists and pinning them to the ground as I thrust against him.

He arched up, pushing his body into mine, and fuck, that felt good. I didn’t even care if there were people watching. I slid my tongue along his as we kissed even harder. I let go of one of his wrists so I could cradle the back of his head, holding him against me as I tasted him. I licked at his lips, then I kissed my way along his jaw and down his throat. He gripped my back, fingers digging in when I sucked at the thin skin over his collarbone.

“Fuck, Angelo.”

I made a noise of assent, then returned to his mouth.

When his hands slid down my back and grabbed my ass, holding me against him so he could rub our cocks together, I heard someone whistle, and that brought me back to reality. I pushed away from him, and we stared at each other, breaths ragged.

It took me a few moments to be able to speak. Cameron brought his hands up over his face. His cheeks were bright red. I doubted he’d ever nearly fucked someone in the middle of the afternoon in a park before. I tugged on his hands. “Look at me.”

I watched his chest rise and fall as he breathed deeply.

“Please.”

He did as I asked, frowning up at me. “You’ve never said please before.”

“And I might never again.”

“I like it when you do.”

“You like it when I don’t too.”

He shrugged. “Sometimes.”

“Are you all right?”

He grinned at me. “Yeah, just embarrassed. I completely forgot where we were.”

“My uncle has a house on the beach. He’s in the Caribbean with my dad right now.”

“Do you have a key?”

Had he already forgotten I didn’t need one? “I can get us in.”

He rolled his eyes. “Of course. What was I thinking?”

“So you’d like to continue what we started?”

“I wasn’t aware I had a choice.” I wanted to kiss away his frown.

“This time you do.” Cameron watched me warily. “I’ve always wanted you willing. Knowing that you agreed to be with me not only to work off your debt but because you enjoy it, because you want it just as much as I do, makes everything so much hotter.”
