“That’s it.” He soothes me through the most violent part of my climax. “My good fucking girl.”

As my movements slow, he pulls me closer, presses sweet kisses against my neck, and murmurs filthy words in my ear.

I curl my arms around him, pressing our bodies so close together. “Dex,” I whisper, desperate to feel him let go. “Please come inside me.”

He groans and seizes my hips again, working me back and forth. His head falls back, and he lets out a deep, satisfied groan.

After a few seconds for our racing hearts to calm, we peel our bodies apart. He stands and holds out his hand to me. “Let’s go clean up together.”

“Okay.” I gather up my scattered clothes, but Dex takes them out of my hands and drops them on the table.

“You’re staying.” It’s not a question. “I want you in my bed tonight. In my arms.”

Raw emotion. Pure love for him threatens to choke off my words, so I hurry to answer. To reassure him I wasn’t trying to leave. “There’s nowhere else I want to be.”

“Good.”

Somewhere in the back of my head I’m worried about what tomorrow will bring. Can this really work between us?

But that’s morning Emily’s problem.

CHAPTER TWENTY

Dex

Emily’s a gorgeous sight early in the morning. Last night wasn’t a fantasy brought on by all my brooding and pining for this woman. She’s here. Flesh and blood. In my bed. Curled on her side, breathing softly, and beautifully naked. It’s too early to wake her.

She shifts and turns over. I’m almost asleep when I sense her breathing change. The bed dips. My eyes fly open.

To find her sitting up, moving slower than a snail, like she’s trying to sneak out of bed without waking me.

“Whoa.” I reach out and capture her arm. “Where do you think you’re sneaking off to?”

“Nowhere.” She reaches down and snatches her dress off the floor, shaking it out. After our shower last night, she’d tried to hang her stuff up, but we got distracted and everything ended up on my bedroom floor. “I’m going to have to do the walk of shame to my car and run home to change before I pick up Libby.”

Being referred to as her walk of shame is a gut-punch I wasn’t expecting this morning. “You’re ashamed you spent the night with me?” I ask in an even tone.

Worry creases her forehead. She drops her clothes on the floor so fast the shoes land with two hard thunks and she turns toward me. I force a teasing grin even though I’m not feeling it at the moment.

“No!” she says, so emphatically all the tension gathering in my chest melts. “I just don’t want to run into her friend’s parents wearing the same dress.”

After our talk last night, I should’ve figured it had something to do with that. “I can give you a shirt,” I offer, thinking of the few items of clothing I keep here. “But I doubt I’ve got any pants that’ll work.”

“Hmm, I have my belt. Maybe I can make a dress out of one of your T-shirts?”

God damn, that sounds hot as fuck. If she’s wearing that, there’s no way I’m letting her leave here. “You still keep a change of work clothes in your car?”

“Yes!” She snaps her fingers, relief flooding her face. “I do.”

“Good. I’ll go grab your stuff.” I tighten my hold on her arm and tug her toward me. “First, come say good morning to me.”

Her bright-eyed expression softens. “My pleasure.” She crawls over the sheets and straddles me. This was more than I asked for and I’m loving it. She playfully grabs my wrists and pins them to the mattress.

Adorable. I could easily flip her off me if I wanted to.

I turn my head from side to side. A slow smirk spreads over my face. I flick my gaze up. “Feeling feisty, are you?”

“Feeling lucky?” she counters.

“Very.” I lift her and roll us to the side, settling myself above her.

“You could’ve at least pretended to expend some effort,” she teases, staring up at me.

I rest my forearms on either side of her face, caging her in. Her hair’s covering one eye and I use my thumb to brush it aside.

“Why’s that?” I ask in a low voice. “You don’t like knowing your man can handle you?”

She runs her fingers through my hair. “My man handles me perfectly.” Underneath me, she wriggles her hips. “But do you think you could let me run to the bathroom?”

Laughing, I lift myself off of her and sit on the edge of the bed. “Sure. I’ll grab your clothes.”

“Okay.” She presses her naked body against my back and drapes her arms over my shoulders. “Hey, I really like waking up with you, just so you know.” Her soft, warm lips pepper kisses over my cheek.
