“I would never harm her and you know it,” Duke said warningly.

“I was just tearful because I’m happy,” Sunny explained. “I like that you’re able to be here as you . . . well, in disguise, but still you.”

She knew it was a disguise?

“I just want this to work. Could this work? For a while at least, could we all get along?” Sunny asked hopefully. “For me?”

“Whoa, she’s good,” Brody whispered.

She so was.

“Of course, Little Rebel,” Duke said reluctantly.

“I always get along with everyone,” the Fox claimed. “It’s one of my greatest charms. It’s also a downfall when I have to kill someone. They get a bit pissed off at me. It’s really a curse being this likeable.”

Sunny just smiled at him. “Would you guys like something to drink?”

Another knock on the door interrupted them before they could answer and Duke moved to the door with a frown. “Who the fu-fudge could that be?”

“Oh, now the fun part starts. Come along. All of you put your jackets back on. Sweet girl, you need shoes too.” The Fox ushered them toward the door as they saw a man leave and walk over to a truck. He opened up the back of it and let down a ramp.

“What is going on?” Sunny asked.

Duke turned to the Fox, a resigned look on his face. “You bought her the Maserati, didn’t you?”

They all stared in shock as the man drove a bright pink Maserati down the ramp.

“It’s beautiful,” Sunny breathed. “Whose is it?”

“Why, yours of course, my sweet girl. You needed some new wheels.”

“Fox, you didn’t!”

“Of course I did. Who else would have?” the Fox asked.

“Fox,” Duke groaned.

“I love it, but I can’t accept it,” Sunny said after the Fox accepted the keys from the delivery man, who put the ramp up then left. Probably eager to get home for the rest of the holiday.

“Why not?”

“It’s too much. I can’t. It wouldn’t be right. But thank you for the thought.” She threw herself at the Fox, hugging him.

He patted her back lightly.

“But I don’t want it,” the Fox said. “I have enough cars.”

She shook her head, looking sad. “No, I can’t.”

“What if it was a wedding gift?” Autumn suggested.

They all turned to stare at her.

Brody smiled. “Yeah, you can’t say no to a wedding gift, and then it’s for both of you.”

“But our wedding was ages ago, and the Fox gave me a gorgeous charm.”

“Ahh, but that wasn’t a gift for both of you,” Brody said.

“Right, because I’m going to be driving a pink Maserati around a lot,” Duke said dryly.

“Hey, what have you got against Maseratis?” the Fox asked.

“Nothing,” Duke replied.

“Then is it the color?” Brody asked.

“Pink is an awesome color,” Autumn argued.

“Yes,” Sunny said. “Pink is an awesome color. Autumn gets it.”

“I love your T-shirt, by the way,” she said to Sunny. There was just something about the other woman that put her at ease. She hadn’t felt like this around anyone other than Brody and the Fox in a long time.

“Aww, thank you. I love unicorns and rhinestones.”

“You know, you’d hurt my feelings if you didn’t take the car,” the Fox said. “And no one wants to hurt my feelings.”

They really didn’t.

Duke groaned. “Fine. But this is the last gift, Fox. I mean it.”

“Sure, of course it is.” The Fox just grinned.

Oh, he was terrible.

Duke scowled, obviously understanding that the Fox would do whatever the hell he liked. “The girls and Brody need to get inside where it’s warm.”

Brody took her hand in his with a wink.

That same dark truck drove toward them. The Fox stiffened and moved to cover them. They all watched as it drove into the driveway next door. A dark-haired man with tattoos and a leather jacket got out. He looked like a badass.

“Who is that?” Sunny said.

“I don’t know,” Duke replied. “Let’s get you inside. I’ll text Sav.” He had his phone out as soon as they were inside. They all took off their jackets and Sunny grabbed both her and Brody’s hands. “Want to see my playroom?” There was a shy note to her voice.

Autumn looked over at Brody. “Yes, please.”

Sunny’s playroom was amazing. Ten minutes later, she and Sunny were sitting at the table and chairs drinking tea with Freddy Fox and Moody the monkey. Brody-bear was their butler.

“Oh, butler,” Autumn said.

“Yes, ma’am?” Brody-bear said in a terrible British accent.

“Could you pour me some more tea? And I’ll take more of the pink cookies.”

“Certainly, ma’am.”

“What sort of accent is that supposed to be?” the Fox asked from the doorway.

Sunny gave a startled gasp, but Autumn had known he was there. It was like a sixth sense or something.

A Foxy sense.

“It’s a British one, Papa,” Brody-bear said.

“That’s terrible, Pup. Remind me to give you some lessons.”

“Daddy, you can be our butler. Brody-bear needs some tea. Chop-chop.”
