And the thing was . . . he had become really good at aftercare. At cuddling. Giving comfort. Which Brody knew was something he struggled with. Or he had. He’d made himself learn how to do it for the two of them.

And what more could you ask for than that? Someone who was willing to do whatever was necessary in order to give you what you wanted. What you needed.

He was so fucking lucky to have the Fox. To have his Tutu.

The Fox continued to rub his back. “That’s it, my Pup. Just let it all out. Good boy, you’re such a good boy. I know you won’t do this again. Or at least, you’ll remember your sore bottom, won’t you?”

“Yes, Papa.”

He should probably feel embarrassed about sitting on the Fox’s lap like this. Sometimes that was still a struggle for him. But today, it felt so right.

Finally, he reined himself in, sniffing back his tears.

“Do you need a tissue, Brody-bear?”

Turning his head, he saw Tutu kneeling, holding the tissues up. He nodded and reached for one. But the Fox lightly slapped his hand away.

“Let me.”

Oh God.

He held himself still as the Fox wiped his face clean.

“Blow.”

Jeez Lousie.

“Blow, Pup.”

He wasn’t Tutu who needed the Fox’s help to clean herself up. But he also knew better than to protest. He didn’t want to add to his spanking.

He blew his nose into the tissue.

“Good boy,” the Fox crooned. “That wasn’t so bad, was it?”

It really was. But he still didn’t say anything.

“Are you feeling all right, my boy?” the Fox asked.

“Yes, Papa.”

“Ready to go kneel while I take care of our girl?”

He nodded. “Yes.”

“Good boy.” The Fox placed a finger under his chin, tilting his face back so he could kiss him lightly. “Delicious.”

A shiver ran up Brody’s spine.

Brody climbed off the Fox’s lap and kneeled down beside Autumn.

The Fox held out his hand to their girl. “Come here, Bunny.”

Oh, crap.

Why had she gone tobogganing down the stairs? It had seemed like such a good idea at the time.

Now . . . she was regretting it. Big time.

“Can we talk about this, Daddy?” she asked.

“Of course. Come lie over my lap for a nice chat.”

That wasn’t what she meant.

“But all the blood will rush to my head.”

“Hmm, good point. All right, talk to me.”

“Well, you see . . . um . . . I . . .” Shoot. Why hadn’t she thought about what she was going to say? “I don’t think I should be spanked for what I did, Daddy.”

“No? You don’t think staying up past your bedtime is naughty?” he asked.

“No, yes, I mean . . . that’s not what you’re most upset about though, Daddy!”

“Isn’t it? What am I most upset about?”

“That I used the toboggan to ride down the stairs.”

He leaned forward, his gaze intent on her. “And why would that upset me, baby girl?”

“Because you might worry that I would hurt myself. But I didn’t! So you see . . . there’s no reason to be upset and spank my poor little bottom.”

She put her hands behind to cover her butt.

“No reason to be upset?” he asked in a low voice. “How much do you mean to me, baby girl?”

“Me and Brody are the most important things in the world to you. You’d kill for us, destroy for us, you’d even deal with pigeons for us. Because we are everything to you.”

“That’s right. And I don’t want you to ever do anything that might endanger yourself. Either of you.” He glanced over at Brody. “Understand me?”

“Yes, Daddy,” she said.

“Yes, Papa,” Brody agreed even though he hadn’t done anything to put himself in harm’s way.

“Now, do you honestly think you don’t need a punishment for your behavior?”

She sighed. “No, I suppose I do.”

He eyed her.

“I deserve a punishment, Daddy. I’m sorry for upsetting you.”

“Thank you for apologizing. Come here.” She took hold of his outstretched hand, then he drew her over his lap. “It’s twenty spanks for you, baby girl. Ten for the toboggan and ten for staying up past your bedtime.”

“Twenty, Daddy! That’s too many.”

“I am happy to make it twenty-five,” he warned.

“But that’s more than twenty, Daddy! You’re supposed to do less not more!”

“Am I? Or I could just keep going up . . .”

“Twenty is good! Twenty is fine! I’ve always loved the number twenty,” she blathered.

“Good. Enough talking. You both need to be put down for a nap.”

Oh, bummer. She was really hoping he’d forget about that.

Yeah, who was she kidding? This was the Fox. He never forgot anything.

The first few smacks were always the worst in her opinion. They kind of took her breath away. And he didn’t ease her into the spanking. He began as he meant to go on. Hard and heavy.

“Daddy, no! Please, no!” she cried out around halfway through.

“I’m sorry, baby. You’re getting all twenty.”
