“I was just about to tell Sid that when that car started speeding toward Ally. I… I have too much to lose without you. You’re the only one I want to live through this messy life with. I trust you, Gregor, and, baby?”

“Yes, gorgeous.”

“I’m staying because I want to. I love you with everything I have.”

I tug her down to capture her lips. I kiss her with all the words I can’t form to say. This is my happily ever after. This woman is what I’ve needed in my life.

I break the kiss and look her in the eyes. Taking a deep breath, I go to ask one of the hardest questions of my life. Yet, I need to ask.

“Yes, we can start expanding our family,” she says before I can get the words out.

I feel like my face splits as my smile takes over. I wrap my good arm around her, holding her tight. I say a prayer of thanks because I know I had divine help to get my woman back.

“I love you with everything I am. I will never hurt you again,” I promise.

“I know, babe. I know.”

Chapter 52

Til Death & Beyond

Chloe

Three months later…

I stand beaming up at my husband. We did it. We’ve said our vows again in front of everyone. I love this man more than I ever have.

Now that I know what my sister had been hiding from me, I know he did the right things to keep me from behind bars. All in all, I know this man would do anything to keep me happy and my sister safe.

“I love you,” I purr as he leans in to kiss me.

He kisses me passionately as he holds me tight. My life flashes before my eyes. We lost so much time, but we’ve been making the time we do have worth it.

“I love you too,” he says against my lips. “Always have, always will, Mrs. Hennessy.”

“Mommy, Mommy,” Chloe calls as she comes running toward us.

My heart squeezes. It does every time she calls me that. She’s been doing so for a few weeks now. I’ve been in a much better headspace.

Dr. Keller has helped a lot. However, the playroom has worked its magic as well. We have our own language in there.

I bend to pick Chloe up. “Hey, sweetie,” I coo once she’s in my arms.

She cups my face. “Mommy is pretty, right Daddy?” she says as she turns to Gregor.

“Yes, baby. Mommy is pretty. She’s the most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen.”

“You’re not bad yourself,” I say to him with a smile.

“How about I dance with my family?”

He takes Chloe into his arms and wraps his free one around my waist, guiding us out to the dance floor. I look up at him with a face-splitting smile.

“This. This is everything.”

“Too an eternity of this,” Gregor murmurs and kisses my nose. When he pulls away, Chloe palms his cheeks and kisses his nose like he did mine. I laugh and wrap my arms around them.

This is my family, my forever.

Epilogue

We’re Next

Chloe

Four months later…

I wring my hands together as I pace the waiting room. I’m not only nervous for Sid—her water broke in the middle of the wedding. I’m nervous about the reaction I’ll get when I share my secret with my husband.

I’ve only known for a few days. With the wedding and my second show at the Soho gallery, we’ve all been so busy. It never seems like the right time to tell him.

“She’s going to be fine,” Gregor murmurs in my ear as he comes up behind me to wrap me in his arms to stop my pacing.

I melt into him, savoring his embrace and heat. I never thought I’d be here. We’ve come such a long way.

“I can’t wait to be on the other side of this. You swollen with my child, bringing our baby into this world,” he says.

I smile and turn in his arms. His eyes soften as he looks down at me. My husband is one fine-ass man. I’m glad he fought for me when it counted.

“What do you hope we’re having?” I ask and bite my lip.

“I’d be happy with a boy or a girl. A girl means we’ll just have to try again,” he croons.

He pauses and his brows knit. I watch as the wheels turn. I can’t keep the smile off my face. I roll my lips and nod at him.

“You’re pregnant?” he whispers in awe.

“Yes,” I say softly.

He cradles his arms around my head, tugging me into his shoulder. He rocks from side to side as he holds me tightly. I can feel the emotions rolling off him.

“God, I love you so much. I want to be there for everything. You’re going to have to pry me away. Thank you, baby. Thank you so much.”

“For what?” I ask, my words muffled by his shoulder.
