Eventually, we headed out to our vehicles together, Rhonda pulling me into a hug in the parking lot. “Thank you for making my son so happy,” she said just for me. We got along real well, she and I. She loved gardening, and sometimes I would do it with her. They’d be leaving for New York soon, and Charles and I had one of our biyearly trips planned as well.
I still couldn’t say I loved the city, not like I did Ryland, but I could see the beauty of it when Charles would point something out or tell me a story. I had fun there in a way I hadn’t my first visit.
“I’m thankful for him every day,” I told Rhonda.
She gave me a smile before wishing Charles happy birthday.
We’d taken Charles’s Rover, but I drove us home. “Will you take me tonight?” I asked. I wanted to share that with him on his birthday. If I weren’t in the mood, I knew he’d be fine with it, but I wanted it tonight. Our sex life likely wasn’t like most folks’. There were still times I didn’t want it, and times when I struggled to stay hard or have an orgasm. Pills could help, but I didn’t do that often. There were times when I just wanted to pleasure him, and others where we’d just be naked and kiss for hours on end. I didn’t feel guilty about it anymore because I knew Charles loved me and was happy with me. Our relationship was our own, and that was all that mattered.
“You know I will. Happy birthday to me.” Charles playfully pumped his brows.
We got home, stripping each other out of our clothes as we went to the bedroom. We kissed and touched, savoring the feel of each other, before Charles opened me up and sank inside me.
Even if I didn’t come, I loved feeling him, loved being attached to him, having Charles inside me or being inside him.
Tonight I did come, though, nails digging into his sweaty back as I lost myself in the pleasure of Charles.
When he came, his mouth immediately met mine, the kiss between us soul deep.
“I remember you once told me you could spend a lifetime kissing me,” Charles said against my lips. “Promise me we’ll do that?”
I looked into his eyes, knowing with all my heart that the words I said were true. “I promise.”
I couldn’t wait to spend the rest of my life doing exactly that.
