I've always had a thing for Greek gods, so you probably won't be surprised how my imagination quickly went into overdrive when I found out who our CEO is...and what he looked like.

He's the closest thing there is to a Greek god, and that he also happens to be a werewolf is just smutty icing on the cake.

A Greek werewolf in New York, you guys.

How can you not fall for someone like that?

Like seriously, how?

How?

How...did I not happen to notice that said Greek werewolf is currently looking at me like he wants to rip into my body...in a way that isn't sexual?

Oh shit.

Is that why he's here? Am I in trouble? Is it because of what I said earlier?

While this isn't the first time I've seen Michalis Chatzigeorgiou in person, there's always been a huge, huge amount of distance separating us, such as when he needs to give a brief speech for the company's annual assembly meeting, and he'd be standing behind the podium while I'm seated at the auditorium's balcony along with everyone else from 2/F.

I've always had this super secret dream that Michalis himself could be my fated mate (if you have to dream, dream big, right?), but I've also always thought it was just one of those fantasies that was never meant to come true.

Until now...maybe?

The King has had a handful of human lovers over the years (a supermodel, an astrophysicist, and a retired golf champion, just to name a few), and while the length of their affairs as well as their reasons for parting ways vary greatly, the one thing each and every one of them had in common is how they described the King as mesmerizingly terrifying...and he certainly is that now, with how a snap of his fingers suddenly has armed security flanking me on each side while shapeshifted wolves circle around me like I'm some super villain that musn't be given a chance to escape.

Uh...okay.

Is this a case of mistaken identity?

The King suddenly bares his fangs at me like I've pissed him off just by existing, and I...freely admit to being frightened out of my wits.

"Cat?"

I remember too late that Toni and Colin are still around, and I dimly hear security telling her that she needs to leave.

"Cat!"

Toni's distress is audible, but I dare not look away from the King as I call back to reassure her. "It's fine. This is all a misunderstanding." Or so I hope, but either way, I simply don't want her involved with this, whatever this may turn out to be.

An awful silence enshrouds the hallway as security escorts Toni and Colin out, and I fight against the urge to squirm.

"Who are you," the King asks in a tightly controlled voice, "and what are you doing in my city?"

His question makes no sense, and all I can do is stammer in my confusion. "I, uh—-"

"Answer me!"

"C-Catalina Bonde—-"

"And are you here alone?" the King demands.

One of the security guys addresses him in a different language before I can think of what to say, and I'm thankful for the unintended reprieve since I'm still not sure what exactly he's asking about.

Was the King asking if I was single?

Or did he suspect me of having committed some kind of crime, and he's asking if I have accomplices?

I really have no idea, and I'll likely never find out what he means by it since the King suddenly orders everyone to leave, and he glares at me before shifting into a silver blur as he jumps out of the hallway window.

What...in...the...world...was...that...about?

Chapter Four

A primal is a shifter who remains to be the only existing creature of his sub-species. Old myths and legends say that the powers and abilities of its deceased pack would then be absorbed by the primal, hence his extraordinary strength. A primal's genetic composition will also alter itself over time, which then allows more than one woman to be the primal's fated mate.

MICHALIS FOUND HIMSELF questioning his sanity as he reached his office and shifted back into human form.

Un-fucking-goddamn-believable.

That was the thought that had flashed in his mind when security informed him earlier that the woman's name was what she said it was, and that she also happened to be one of his goddamned employees.

How the fuck had someone like her slip under his radar?

Security already had her files waiting for him in his inbox, and Michalis impatiently skimmed over her personal details.

Name: Catalina Bonde.

Age: 32.

Status: Single.

Educational attainment: Bachelor's degree, Computer and Information Sciences and Support Services, UCLA; Bachelor's degree, Preter information and technology, UdLA.

Company position: CRM Developer, Level 7

The report also included her headshot, and something inside of him seemed to flicker into life.

Ginger-colored hair. Sea-green eyes. Lips like a Cupid's bow.

Weaknesses were what he typically focused on with a potential enemy, and not what made them fuckable.
