“Please, he has the hots for you and wasn’t even trying to hide the fact that he was eye-fucking you. If Lucas saw the way he was staring at you, he’d punch him.”

“Kristin!” I cried out with a laugh.

“It’s true.”

Next to the grilled veggies, I set some marinated olives, along with some roasted bell peppers and marinated artichokes.

“We’re never going to find a place to sit down and eat,” I called out over the music playing.

“Follow me! We’re sitting with some friends!” Kristin said as she made her way through the crowd. “Dark Horse” by Katy Perry started to play, and so many people went to the dance floor.

Kristin walked up to a table that had a few people sitting at it and motioned for me to sit down. I glanced around to see the other people at the table all worked with Lucas.

“Hey, guys! We’ve been waiting for you,” Manny said as he stood and held out a chair for me. I sat as we all exchanged hellos, then I shot Kristin a questioning look. She simply smiled and shrugged.

Before I even had a chance to take a bite of food, I felt a shiver run down my back. Warm breath tickled my neck as Lucas spoke against my ear.

“So, you wanna play with magick?”

My eyes darted up to see no one at the table watching as Lucas mimicked the words of the song into my ear. I tilted my neck and felt goosebumps erupt over my skin at the heat of his breath hitting it.

“What kind of magick are you talking about?” I turned in my seat to look up at him. The air caught in my lungs as I took in Lucas. He wore a vintage, black tailcoat jacket and a black Victorian frock coat. It was topped off with a black top hat. He was also carrying a walking stick. My eyes moved over his body, and I had to remember how to speak.

“Who are you supposed to be?” I asked.

He looked surprised before the corner of his mouth rose into a sexy smirk. “Why, I would think a witch would recognize a warlock.”

I raised a single brow. “A warlock?”

Extending his hand, he waggled his brows. “Dance with me?”

When I stood, he let his eyes roam my body, and I could see the lust in them. I couldn’t even put into words how that made me feel. Happy. Nervous. Excited.

“You look beautiful, Hollie.”

My cheeks flushed, and I was so thankful I hadn’t had Sarah do a spell.

And as if I had summoned her up, my sister appeared. She was wearing an outfit almost like mine but a bit lower and not as short.

“Sarah, you let Kristin style you!”

She rolled her eyes. “I did. And no, I did not use a spell.”

I blinked several times. She had read my mind.

Leaning in, she whispered, “You’re not the only one with that particular gift.”

When she sat down in my spot, she said, “I’m starving!”

Laughing, I focused back on Lucas. “I’d love to dance.”

He placed my hand over his arm and led us to the dance floor. As we passed by the DJ, Lucas tipped his hat, then drew me into his arms as we waited for the next song to start.

The moment Frank Sinatra’s “Witchcraft” started to play, I couldn’t help but smile.

“You think I’m crazy, don’t you?” I asked as I looked up into his soft, brown eyes that danced with amusement.

He spun me and pulled me closer to him. “At first, I thought you had lost your damn mind, Hollie.”

“Fair enough.”

“But, if you believe it, then I believe it too.”

My heart started to beat harder in my chest. “Why?”

A sexy smile played across his face. “Because there’s no nicer witch than you, and I happen to be head over heels for you, Hollie Craft. I’d follow you to the moon and back if you asked me to.”

“What?” I whispered.

He placed his hand on the side of my face, leaned down, and rubbed his nose with mine. “I have been hot for you since middle school.”

A bubble of laughter slipped free as I shook my head in disbelief. “I’ve been hiding my feelings for you as well.”

Lucas shook his head. “And you say, you’re a witch? You couldn’t read my mind on that subject?”

“I guess not,” I said with a smirk.

Lucas placed his mouth next to my ear. “I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting ride, but I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

His mouth captured mine, and I instantly melted into his embrace. Lucas held me closer and moaned when I opened to him. Our tongues moved in a rhythmic dance, and everything and everyone disappeared.

When he slowly drew away and leaned his forehead to mine, I fought to pull air into my lungs. When I could finally speak, I asked, “Is this a dream?”
