Buckle in for a liquid hot romance where a young man with a plan takes on his aunt’s ex-husband through a wild week of kinky fun and dreams of a happily ever after.
I was on the right path, at long last. The divorce proceedings were going well, we managed to keep things somewhat civil for the sake of our daughter, and I could finally be the man I’d suppressed for decades.
I was gay. And evidently very much into BDSM.
So this was the perfect time to explore, have fun, meet new people, make friends who were actually friends and not the husbands of my wife’s uppity circle of gossip peddlers. I was happy. I was off to a great start, distancing myself from the family I’d once married into.

The Game Series is a BDSM series where romance meets the reality of kink. Sometimes we fall for someone we don’t match with, sometimes vanilla business gets in the way of kinky pleasure, and sometimes we have to compromise and push ourselves to overcome trauma and insecurities. No matter what, one thing is certain. This is not a perfect world—and maybe that’s why the happily ever after feels so good.

“So it’s true?” I couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t fucking believe it.
“It’s true, kiddo,” Mom laughed. “Can you believe it?”
Not one fucking bit.
“No,” I panted.
I ran past Joey’s bodega, a small parking lot, a church, the Fender Initiative music academy, a Quiznos, and a new frozen yogurt place while I let my brain drown in the sheer chaos of finding out that my aunt was getting a divorce from the love of my life. And he was suddenly gay?
Nope, zero understanding. It didn’t compute. My mind refused to accept it.
Mom prattled on, sharing details I definitely hadn’t heard from my cousins. The news was spreading like wildfire in our family, and I’d received the first text from my cousin Linda when I’d been in the middle of a presentation at work.
OMG Uncle Franklin is gay.
Aunt Samantha wasn’t messing around. She must’ve been on the phone with the entire family all day.
I stopped at a light and scrubbed my hands over my face, wiping sweat away—and nearly yanking out my earbuds in the process. Mom kept talking, cars honked nearby, the sidewalk was slowly filling with people headed for dinner, and I was still mindfucked.
“…and I just don’t see how this is fair of her,” Mom was saying. “He hasn’t cheated. He hasn’t been lying for very long, if what she said is correct—that he’s suppressed that part of him.”
A person’s sexual nature was a pretty big part. But I got what she was saying.
“So to out him like this,” she said with a tsk sound. “We can’t help how we feel.”
“No, we can’t.” I swallowed dryly and crossed the street, picking up the pace again. It was time to circle back home. As much as I liked Brooklyn, the traffic drove me nuts. “I can’t wrap my head around it, Mom.”
“I know, kiddo. I can’t imagine.” She paused. “But…remember the other week you said you missed DC?”
Oh Christ.
“Moment of weakness,” I replied firmly. And out of breath. “I’m happy in New York.”
I was so full of shit.
“Oh, really.” She didn’t believe me. “Because from where I’m standing, you might be happier in DC where you could possibly pursue someone who’s apparently gay.”
I chuckled through a cough and shook my head. But God, I loved her. She’d always been on my side. Always supported me. Always listened to me.
“That’s your baby sister’s very recent ex,” I felt the need to point out.
“Yes, and I love her, but I never understood those two together,” she responded stubbornly. “Franklin is so kind and warm and…”
“And Aunt Samantha isn’t?” I smirked, knowing the answer.
Mom just laughed.

Just get through the morning.
One hour at a time.
“Daddy! Do I have to bring the other hearing aid?”
I lowered the heat on the stove and left the kitchen. Lily’s pink rollaboard luggage stood ready in the living room, and I wasn’t a fan of the sight. I rounded the corner and headed down the hallway toward our bedrooms, and I found my daughter wrestling with her backpack on her bed. It obviously matched her other luggage.
At least she was happy. This was the one trip she loved to go on, because she’d get to spend almost an entire week with her aunt Claire. The only family member I trusted wholeheartedly to take care of Lily, and that included her own mother.
“It can’t hurt for you to bring it, princess,” I said. “In case the primary one malfunctions.”
“That’s never happened,” she huffed.
I felt my mouth twitch with amusement. First of all, it’d happened a handful of times. Second of all, my God, she was adorable in her pajamas and bed head. She wasn’t leaving for another three hours, but she’d wanted to get her carry-on “sorted” the minute she’d woken up.
