“They didn’t.” I even out my breathing.

“You okay?”

“Yeah, weddings tend to play with my hormones.”

“Maybe you’ll meet some sexy hunk tonight.” She wiggles her eyebrows. Or maybe I‘ll get arrested for murdering my husband. Anything is possible.

“Holy crap, is that Stacy York?” I jerk my head to the main entrance doors to see Glory gliding through them. “I was sure that article was bullshit.” Glory slips right into reporter mode. She’s always up for a story.

“About her and Kenton?” She nods her head.

“Yeah, he’s going to get himself disbarred if he’s not careful if this is all true.”

“Disbarred?” I ask, confused. That’s the normal way I feel when it comes to Kenton.

“Yeah, you can’t date someone while you’re their lawyer,” Glory goes on to explain. What the hell? Why would he risk the career he’s built? “They needed to at least wait a few months or something. They just wrapped up her divorce.”

The sudden realization of why Kenton would risk everything for this woman is almost too much for me to bear. He must really love her. The urge to throw up hits me as I begin to put the pieces together as to why Kenton put this ring on my finger. He can’t be dating anyone if he’s married. At least that’s what he could claim. And he has the marriage license to prove it.

Kenton

“This is not the kind of paperwork I thought you’d be having drawn up on my wedding day,” Lennon teases me. I shoot him a glare. Judge Adams laughs at my brother's joke through the phone.

“Your restraining order is issued. I still can’t believe your ass got married.”

“If my Gabriella wants us to have a more formal wedding, you’ll be the first to be invited.”

“I’ll be there.” Of course he will. He has plans to run for governor, and he’s going to want my donations.

“Thank you, Judge,” I say before I end the call and toss my phone down on the table in front of me. The last twenty-four hours have been a nightmare, to say the least. “At least this crazy woman doesn't know about Gabriella.”

“But does Gabby know about her?”

“I haven’t had a chance to tell her.” I run my hand down my face. Lennon's phone dings at the same time mine does.

I check it, seeing it’s my assistant. I give him the name of the room they have us waiting in until the wedding starts.

“Hope Gabby doesn’t read the gossip blogs,” Lennon says. I don’t see her scrolling gossip blogs with how busy she always is, but everyone has their habits. “Willow sent me this all scared you’re going to get disbarred.” He hands me his phone. I scroll through the article.

“I don’t think it matters if she does or doesn't read this shit at this point. If all the girls are in one room hanging out right now, there'll be no way for her to avoid it.” Fuck. I should’ve warned Gabriella about the issues I was having with my client. I hand Lennon his phone back, knowing I need to get to my wife as soon as possible. “Where are they?”

“I’ll take you,” Lennon volunteers too quickly. He’s more than willing to take me to them. He can act as though he’s doing it to help me, but I know damn well that he’s doing this for selfish reasons. He wants to see Willow. “Not seeing the bride the night before the wedding is a bullshit tradition. We’re already married.” He mutters the last part under his breath. He’s never going to let go of the fact that he married her when they were kids.

“Lead the way.” I’ll let him make the scene. I’m already in enough trouble as it is if my wife has seen this bullshit. I was actually happy about the tradition of the bridesmaids shacking up with the bride the night before. With how my night went last night, I felt better knowing my wife was tucked away in a safe place.

I follow my brother out of his suite, passing my assistant in the process. He hands me my ring to slip back onto my finger.

We make our way across the resort to the opposite side. We pass the two security guards posted on their floor. I hang back as Lennon knocks on the door, trying to lure Willow to open it. I’m not sure how Gabriella is going to respond when she sees me. I’ll wait for my moment to pounce.

Gabriella is like a wild horse: beautiful and full of life but hard to tame. Not that I want to tame her, I just want her to run in my field.

Lennon tries to coax whoever’s at the door to open it. I’m not close enough to hear what he’s saying. It doesn't take long before his words work and Willow is in his arms. He carries her back into the suite, and I know the other girls are going to be coming out soon.
