“I’m keeping an eye on her,” Corby says, wrapping an arm around her. She melts into him.

“I want you to meet Chris.” Glory runs her fingers through the little boy's dark hair that is standing next to her.

“It’s nice to meet you.” He tucks into Glory’s side.

“How about you get us some treats so I can talk to Willow for a moment.” Corby kisses the top of her head before he scoops Chris into his arms, making his way to the display case.

“You went from saying that you and Corby are not a thing to shacking up and adopting a kid together.” I laugh. You never know what you’re going to get with Glory, and I love that about her.

“That’s the plan. For now we are fostering, but Corby is throwing his weight around to speed up the process. Almost losing someone you love can put a lot of things into perspective.” Glory looks like she is glowing right now. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her this happy.

“I’m so happy for you.” I give her another hug, thankful that everything worked out for them.

“Now it’s your turn.” She drops down into one of the chairs. I follow suit.

“What does that mean?” She's about to get me into something. I can see it in her eyes. I wait patiently for her to tell me what she has up her sleeve.

“Did you finish filling out the dating app?”

“I kind of forgot,” I admit. It totally slipped my mind. Lennon has distracted me and that app hasn’t seemed as important.

“I figured as much. So I went ahead and did it for you. Even scoped out a few men that I think will be compatible with you. You have two dates this week. You’re welcome.” She smiles big. My mouth falls open. “I thought you wanted to do this? To get yourself out there.”

“I do want to find someone.” Falling in love is the last thing I have on my bucket list that I’ve yet to do. But it is my most desired.

“Then go on the dates.” I lean back in my chair. “It will be good for you.” She’s right. I need to put myself out there. I feel like men are always sticking me into the cute or quirky girl next door category.

“Okay,” I reluctantly agree. My mind wanders to Lennon. I wouldn't mind going on a date with him. But the man is way out of my league. He’s freaking loaded and has a brilliant mind. I’ve enjoyed talking to him.

Dating him could ruin that. For all I know he could have a girlfriend or even a fiancée. The thought sours my stomach. If Lennon was mine, I’m not sure I’d be okay with him texting another girl all the time.

Glory snags my phone from me, logging me into the dating app and showing me how it works. Chris and Corby make it back to our table. Chris holds a cupcake out for Glory.

“Why, thank you.” She kisses him on the top of the head. The little boy gives a bright smile to her. “We’re headed to the park. I’ll call you later.” I give her another hug before she heads out. It’s so crazy how fast life can change.

I watch as they walk out the door, hoping that one day I’ll have what they do: a family. I’m not sure if that’s even a possibility for me after all the treatment I had in the past, but seeing Glory and Corby with Chris reminds me there are other avenues I could explore.

I find myself checking my phone again to see if I have another text from Lennon. There isn't one, so I slip it back into my pocket and get back to work. I normally love my job, but today it drags on. Any time the bell goes off for the front door, I’m checking to see if it’s Lennon.

I don’t know what it is about this man that has me so drawn to him. I swear there is a connection there unlike any other. I thought billionaires were supposed to be jerks. Lennon is the sweetest man I’ve ever met.

I pull the desserts from the front display, taking them into the back to put them away before I start wiping things down.

I stop what I’m doing when Cindy comes flying into the back of the bakery. “Willow. What the hell? There is a super hot man asking for you. He pulled up in a car that cost as much as a house.” I pull my apron off. Excitement bubbles up inside of me.

“I’m working with him on a fundraiser event.” I pull my hair down from my ponytail. I don’t wear it down often because I hate when my hair hangs in my face. Plus, I work with food, and I prefer to keep it tied back.
